Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic Dentistry is quickly becoming one of the fastest growing areas of modern Dentistry. This is probably due to the innovations in materials and equipment that modern technology has introduced to the profession. As patients become educated to the various new treatments available there has been an increased request for these treatments by the general public. Some of the most requested treatments are:

Teeth Whitening - Treating the teeth with a chemical that reacts with the enamel and results in a whiter coloration. There are both in-office and at-home variations of this treatment. Generally the in-office treatment is done under more controlled settings allowing for the use of more concentrated and effective chemicals.

Bonding - The application of a tooth colored layer of material, which is applied over the surface of the tooth in thin layer applications. The dentist then cures these layers with a UV light that leaves the surface ready for shaping and polishing. This technique is extremely useful for recontouring the appearance of jagged or chipped teeth and masking unwanted deep stains.

Laminates - The application of a laboratory manufactured color-matched veneer that is cemented over the visible surface of existing teeth. Since this material is cured at the lab it is harder and more stable than the bonding material. Laminates are well suited for correcting large defects and are typically used for closing spaces between teeth and repair of teeth with large chipped surfaces.

There are many other treatments available that we can recommend to you depending on the present condition of your mouth and the results you wish to obtain.
